What is Autogenic Training?

Autogenic training is a relaxation technique developed by the German psychiatrist Johannes Heinrich Schultz and first published in 1932. The technique involves the daily practice of around 10 minutes, usually in the morning, lunchtime and evening. During each session, the practitioner will repeat a set of visualisations that induce a state of relaxation. The technique can be used to alleviate many stress-related illnesses and psychosomatic disorders. Autogenic Training is highly effective in both stress management and stress relief.



Stress has been called the ‘health epidemic of the 21st century’ by the World Health Organization.

Stress can be caused by money troubles, job issues, relationship conflicts, health issues, etc. The effect of stress on our emotional and physical health can be devastating, resulting in many illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, headaches and migraine, anxiety and panic-attacks, high blood pressure, strokes, heart attacks, etc.

What does the Autogenic Training course involve?

An Initial complimentary consultation. You will learn individually Autogenic Training during hourly sessions spread over a period of eight to ten weeks. You will be sitting down in a comfortable chair or lying in a comfortable position during your session. You will learn to practice 'passive focus and concentration' through observing yourself in a completely new way. Each week you will learn simple formulas and visualisations that you repeat silently to yourself. You will be asked to practice the exercise two to three times or more each day and keep a record of your observations. Once you have learned the techniques you can apply them suitable to your lifestyle.
